As we approach the end of what has been an extremely busy and successful year I wanted to share with you some recent updates and developments.
As you will be aware the new school name will be 'Horizon International School'. We hope to have our new logo finalised within the next few days, which will then be shared with you.
The new school uniform design is almost completed and samples of this are now available in the main school reception. Once the logo is completed the uniform can then go into production and timelines regarding the purchase of the new uniform will be distributed.
The auditorium is approaching the final stages of completion and will be ready for use at the beginning of the next academic year. We are all excited about this development and really look forward to improving and enhancing our provision for expressive and performing arts within the school.
Unfortunately, at this time of year we also say goodbye to some families and colleagues who will no longer be with us at Star next year. For any Star family who is leaving us, on behalf of the school I would like to wish you all the very best in the future.
With regards to staff, we are sad to be losing colleagues who have contributed greatly to the school over recent years. As is part of any international environment, people move on, but we are fortunate to have so many talented individuals on our team that we are able to minimise any disruption.
The following teaching staff will be leaving us this year, some as a result of promotion, some for relocation and others for family reasons. These are:
Miss Stacey and
The following support staff will also no longer be with us:
Mrs Wendy (TA),
Mrs Maya (TA) and
Mrs Jodi (FS Reception)
ALL of these staff members have added significant value to our school, demonstrated commitment to the students and are a credit to their profession. I wish them all the very best for the future and thank them wholeheartedly for their amazing contributions during their time here.
As a result, this means that we have new staff joining us next year and I am extremely excited about the quality and experience of the candidates who we have recruited.
Joining our foundation team are:
Miss Oonagh and Miss Sarah
Joining our primary team are:
Miss Adele, Miss Sharan, Miss Emily, Miss Vicki, Miss Fiona and Miss Aimie
Joining our secondary / specialist team are:
Mr Americo (Languages), Mr Jamie (Mathematics), Mrs Jill(Humanities), Miss Emma(Business Studies and ICT), Mrs Michelle (PE maternity cover) and Miss Jessica (Drama)
Joining our support staff team are:
Mrs Penny (Teaching Assistant), Mrs Caroline (Teaching Assistant), Mrs Amy (Teaching Assistant), Mrs Sanuja (Teaching Assistant) and Mrs Kavitha (Admin)
Also, Mrs Kirsty and Mrs Ligaya will not be here at the beginning of next year due to the anticipated arrival of their babies.
We are all looking forward to the arrival of the newest addition to your families!
There is no question, with the additions to our team that I have mentioned above, that the school will be in a great place next year to continue its development and build on the successes of the past. You will have the opportunity to meet our new staff during the Orientation Day at the beginning of the year.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone within the star community for their support during the past few months, a time of significant change. I wish you all a very enjoyable holiday and look forward to seeing you all again in September.
