I can't quite believe we are over half way through the school year. Much has happened over the last few weeks and things do not look like slowing down. There are plenty of activities planned which I will come to shortly, but firstly I would just like to draw your attention to recent events.
Work has begun in earnest on the Auditorium and is on course to be completed over the coming months. Plans have been revised from the initial stages with us now looking at fitting it out with retractable seating as opposed to fixed, to allow the facility to be used as another Physical Education / Expressive and Performing Arts space. This will provide the school with greater flexibility as we look into the future.
Mrs Cathy and the Secondary Team have worked extremely hard resulting in the secondary school recently being accredited and approved as an Examination Centre by both Edexcel and Cambridge International Examinations. We also recently held our first Year 9 IGCSE Options Evening.
Our school Eco campaign continues to grow from strength to strength and the Foundation Team and Star Club have done a great job in establishing their indoor garden.
The recent International Day event was a great success and thanks must be given to everyone who was involved.
I would also like to congratulate the primary and secondary students who performed so well in the recent Readers Cup competition.
Moving forward, in the next few weeks we have book week and science week, both extremely popular events on our school calendar. These weeks will have specific focuses on engaging the students in both literacy and science in a fun and stimulating way.
We also have a production on Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th March, which is 'An evening of music, dance and drama' showcasing some of the many talented performers we have within our school. Having seen very brief snapshots of the rehearsals I urge as many of you to come and watch what I am sure will be a thoroughly enjoyable occasion. Following this, we have our second edition of 'Proms on the Pitch' on Thursday 20th March, where all of our foundation and primary children will be performing a selection of musical classics. A perfect opportunity for a relaxing evening under the stars with your picnic blanket.
I would like to thank all of the parents who attended the recent parents / teacher meetings, your support on these occasions is extremely important and highly appreciated.
Finally, can I remind all parents of the deadline for re-registration for places for the next academic year. It is vital that you re-register by April 1st 2014 as there are many families waiting for spaces. If for any reason you have any concerns in this regard please ensure you speak to our Admin Team as soon as possible.
