Principal's Updates

Dear Parents,
Firstly I would like to extend a warm welcome to all existing and new families who are joining us this year and hope you had a very enjoyable summer.
There have been many developments taking place over the holiday period and I want to take this opportunity to update you on these.
Firstly, we are now officially Horizon International School and you will have by now, seen the new logo.  It has been great to receive so many positive comments about this.  The new signage should be completed on the front of the school within the next 2 days.
The introduction of WIFI throughout the school is now complete allowing us to bring more technology into the classroom to aid learning where appropriate.  This is a big step in addressing one of our main action points from our last DSIB report.
The auditorium is now complete and we are just waiting on final 'snags' to be fixed before the building is signed off.  There will be an invitation to see this facility within the next 2-3 weeks.  I am really looking forward to seeing our students put on some fabulous performances in the future.
Some of you will have seen that the grass field is currently being replaced with artificial turf.  This has been a very difficult decision to make but makes perfect sense for the development of the whole school PE Curriculum and competitive school sport.  We are extremely pleased to have further developed our relationship with Elite FC who will be managing this facility out of school hours.  The completion date for the project is mid-September.
Also nearing completion is the fresh Juice Bar that will be operational within Term 1.  We are currently under discussions as to how this will be rolled out to the students and this information will be shared with you closer to the time.  The Juice Bar will be open until 7:00pm and can also be used by parents.
Finally, thank you to the majority of parents who have shown great support and understanding during the transition to the new uniform.  A delay and sizing discrepancies from the supplier has caused some issues but with a little patience we are now getting these resolved.  Further orders have been placed but can I please reassure any family, who are unable to get the full uniform in time for the beginning of term, not to worry as children will be able to wear their own clothes during this time.
As a team, all the staff are excited about the year ahead and look forward to seeing you and the students later this week.

Kind regards

Mr Dave
