Inspection Report 2012
Dear Parents

Thank you to all those Parents who have sent in their congratulations to the School on the publication of our latest Inspection Report.  If you have not yet read the Report you will find it available on the KHDA's website please click on the link KHDA DSIB Report

I am particularly delighted with the Report because it validates our own process of self-evaluation.  The gradings we had given ourselves for each of the KHDA's Quality Indicators were almost the same as those given by the Inspectors.  The Inspection Team was very positive about the progress we have made since our last Inspection and that we continue to successfully move in the right direction across a wide range of areas including Arabic and Islamic Education.

I am particularly pleased that all Members of our Community have been acknowledged in such a positive manner across a wide range of areas but particularly in terms of:

Students' excellent behaviour, attitudes and desire to learn, their positive relations with Teachers and their enjoyment of school life;

The consistently good teaching across most of the curriculum which enabled students to make good progress in English, Mathematics and Science at all stages;

The highly effective steps to ensure students' safety and welfare;

The efforts of the Principal and Leadership Teams to continuously improve the quality of education in the school;

The strong and effective partnership with Parents and the Community, celebrating the rich international diversity of students.

We had already identified the next areas for improvement and development as part of our self-evaluation.  However, the Inspectors still acknowledged, in their feedback, the progress we had made in such areas as Arabic and Islamic Education.

Finally, my thanks to all of our Parents: those who responded to the KHDA's on-line Questionnaire in the very positive and supportive manner described by the Inspection Team.  This reflects the wonderful support we receive from all our Parent Community throughout the year.

Mr Michael

Welcome to Star International School, Umm Sheif, Dubai

Star International School Umm Sheif is an established multicultural school that follows the Early Years Foundation Stage and the National Curriculum of England and Wales. Since our doors opened in September 2008, the school community has rapidly grown and we now have approximately 450 children with ages ranging from 3 to 12 from over 43 different countries.

Entrance

Our newly constructed buildings are situated on a secure and spacious site in close proximity to all the 'new' Dubai areas such as Umm Suqeim, Al Manara, Al Safa, Dubai Marina, Al Barsha, The Greens, Emirates Hills, Springs, Lakes, Meadows, The Palm, Arabian Ranches ... etc. The atmosphere at Star International Umm Sheif is child focused based on community and family values. We aim to deliver a high quality educational experience within a fun learning environment that is safe and nurturing for our children. In September 2010 we completed our Primary School and we have welcomed our first intake of Secondary School children into Year 7 in September 2011. They will continue to be the pioneers and lead our pupils towards their IGCEs and AS Levels in the future.

STAR SWIMMING POOL...THE JOURNEY SO FAR

THEN

pic

We are now approaching the end of a very long journey.
I would like to thank all those Parents who have expressed both their patience and confidence in us during what has been a real challenge to give you and your Children the best Swimming Facility possible. Your supportive words of encouragement and reassurance have been of great help.
I would like to say a special "THANK YOU" to Mr Dave, Mr John.com and Mr Amro (one of our Parents who works for ETA Ascon) who have supported me tirelessly in driving the project forward and to ...
The Board, Ms Maryam & Mr Khalanthar, for accepting our continual suggestions for making the original plans even better.
We are now awaiting the Completion Certificate from Dubai Municipality before we fill the Pool and test it thoroughly.

NOW

On Saturday the Contractor finished the fencing.
It is now safe for me to show Parents and Children around the Facility.
If any Parents would like to have a "TOUR" at drop-off time each morning then please meet me in the Main Reception at 8.10am

Michael
